Shark conservationist Kinga Philipps returns to Shark Week with veteran scientist Tristan Guttridge to embark on an expedition through the remote Islands of Tahiti to investigate whether local legends and mysteries are true about massive sharks, large aggregations and the presence of rarely seen and endangered species. Together they will set sail via catamaran throughout the Tuamotu Archipelago beginning their journey in Tikehau where local freediving champion Denis Grosmaire claims he regularly sees massive resident female tiger sharks, some which may be pregnant. From there they will sail over 25 hours to a secret shark island where local fishermen claim their waters hold large aggregations of rarely seen and endangered species including silver tips, oceanic black tips and oceanic white tips. For their last stop they will journey to the island of Fakarava to determine if the local stories of a wall of hundreds of grey reef sharks exists year-round. Are these waters home to the sharks the legends claim? Kinga and Tristan are on a mission to uncover these mysteries and to understand if and why the Islands of Tahiti are a shark paradise.
